The Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas & The Turks & Caicos Islands is proud to announce the launch of Synod Connect, a digital platform designed to enhance engagement, communication, and collaboration within the Diocese during its annual Synod. This new site offers a modern, eco-friendly approach to hosting the annual Diocesan Synod, bringing together clergy and delegates in a streamlined, efficient, and sustainable manner.
Synod Connect modernizes how the Diocese manages the Synod and reflects a commitment to being responsible stewards of both financial resources and the environment. By providing all Synod materials, including reports and documents, in a digital format, the Diocese eliminates the need for printed materials, reducing paper consumption and minimizing our environmental footprint.
“With the introduction of Synod Connect, we are embracing the opportunities that modern technology offers while also taking deliberate steps to be more environmentally conscious,” said Donavon Curtis, Communication Ministry Coordinator. “This platform allows us to reduce waste, cut down on costs, and offer an accessible, user-friendly experience for all participants.”
The financial benefits of this digital transition are significant. By eliminating printing costs and the logistics of distributing hard copies, the Diocese is better positioned to allocate resources where they are needed most—supporting vital ministries and outreach efforts. In addition, fewer printed materials mean less waste, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and care for God’s creation.
“The savings in financial resources and environmental impact are substantial,” Curtis continued. “As we move forward, it’s essential that we not only adopt today’s technology but also use it to live out our call to be good stewards of God’s gifts.”
Synod Connect also empowers clergy and delegates by offering a more interactive and efficient way to participate in the Synod. From accessing reports and documents to staying informed about upcoming events, the platform provides a central hub for all Synod-related activities. This marks a significant leap in how the Diocese can function and communicate, bringing us closer together as a faith community.
The 121st session of the Synod begins on October 21 with an opening service and continues through October 24.
