Bishop Boyd Announces Upcoming Ordinations to the Diaconate and New Students for Codrington College

The Rt. Rev. and Rt. Hon. Laish Z. Boyd, Bishop of the Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands, has announced four upcoming Ordinations to the Diaconate, following the recommendation of the Commission on Ministry.

The ordinations will take place in the home parishes of the ordinands as follows:

• Austin Meadows will be ordained on Monday, July 13, the Feast of St. Silas, Companion of the Apostle Paul, at Christ the King Church, New Providence, at 7:00 p.m.

• Kenneth Knowles will be ordained on Wednesday, July 15, the Feast of St. Swithun, Bishop of Winchester, at St. Barnabas, New Providence, at 7:00 p.m.

• Tiffany Hall-Sweeting will be ordained on Monday, July 20, the Feast of St. Margaret of Antioch, at Christ Church Cathedral, Nassau, at 7:00 p.m.

• Asteir Dean will be ordained on Wednesday, July 22, the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, at The Church of the Ascension, Grand Bahama, at 7:00 p.m.

Bishop Boyd has asked the wider diocesan community to keep these ordinands, their families, their home congregations, and the parishes of their first assignment in prayer as they prepare for this important step in their ministry.

In his recent memo to the Parish community, Bishop Boyd also announced that Khayl Seymour of St. Matthew’s Parish, New Providence, and Waldon Whyms of Holy Trinity Parish, New Providence, have been recommended by the Commission on Ministry and accepted to test their vocations to the ordained ministry at Codrington College in Barbados. They are expected to begin their studies in August.

The faithful across the Diocese are invited to pray for Khayl and Waldon, their families, and their parish communities as they enter this new chapter in their ministry journeys.

The Diocese gives thanks for these signs of vocation, service, and commitment, and prays God’s continued blessing upon all who are discerning and answering the call to ordained ministry.
