The Reverend Andrew Toppin was born in New Providence to the late Lloyd and Mabel (née Kelly) Toppin. He received his primary education at Queen’s College Primary School and his secondary education at Saint John’s College, both in New Providence. Fr. Toppin went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the University of the West Indies.

Fr. Toppin’s journey to the priesthood began with his ordination to the diaconate, followed by his appointment as Assistant Priest at Saint Barnabas, New Providence, from 1989 until 1993. He then served as Priest-in-Charge of All Saints Parish, Mangrove Cay and South Andros, from 1993 to 2000. In January 2001, Fr. Toppin was appointed Rector of Saint Luke’s Parish, South Eleuthera, where he served until 2010. From 2010 to 2013, he was the Assistant Priest at Saint George’s, New Providence, before being appointed Priest-in-Charge of Saint James Parish, Adelaide, where he served until 2023.

On February 19, 2023, Fr. Toppin was appointed the 6th Rector of St. George’s Anglican Church in the Centerville community, New Providence, a parish he had a deep personal connection with. His baptism took place at St. George’s Church in 1963, and it was under the mentorship of the parish’s first rector, the late Canon Collingwood Cooper, that he was inspired to pursue the priesthood. In his inaugural sermon, Fr. Toppin expressed his gratitude for the legacy of those who laid the foundation of the church and pledged to continue building upon it.

Fr. Toppin is an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., where he serves as Chaplain. His hobbies include reading, writing, and tinkering with electrical gadgets.

Fr. Toppin’s leadership style is characterized by humility, faith, and a deep sense of responsibility to his parishioners. In his words, “I am standing on the shoulders of those who have gone ahead and have laid a solid foundation… I count it as a joy to serve as your Priest, Pastor, Spiritual guide, and friend. May God bless us all as we work together to build His great Church.”
