The Rt. Rev. Laish Zane Boyd was born in Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas. He received his early education in both government and private schools, completing high school in 1977. In 1983, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Classical History and Philosophy from King’s College at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Following his sense of calling to the priesthood, Boyd pursued theological training at Codrington College in St. John, Barbados. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, in 1986. That same year, he was ordained as a deacon, and in 1987, as a priest—both ordinations performed by the late Bishop Michael H. Eldon, the first Bahamian bishop of the Diocese.

Throughout his ministry, Bishop Boyd served faithfully in several parishes, including: Assistant at Christ the King, New Providence; Rector of Our Lady and St. Stephen, Bimini; Priest Vicar at Christ Church Cathedral, Nassau; and Rector of Holy Cross, New Providence.

In 2006, Boyd was consecrated bishop and initially served as bishop coadjutor. He assumed the role of diocesan bishop on January 1, 2009. A lifelong Anglican, he was baptized, confirmed, and actively involved as a youth at St. Agnes Church on Baillou Hill Road, New Providence.

Bishop Boyd is married to Joann, and they are the proud parents of three adult sons.
