Picking Up The Pieces
The Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated reopening of the St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Seniors Daycare Center. After being closed since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center is ready to resume its vital role in the community, marking a significant milestone in the Church’s commitment to social outreach and support.
The reopening of the Seniors Daycare Center is part of the second phase of St. Matthew’s Social Outreach Ministry, which recently resumed its Soup Kitchen services. This initiative is a testament to the tireless efforts of Rector Canon Basil Tynes, Assistant Priest Scott Jupp, and the dedicated parishioners of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, whose hard work and dedication have made this reopening possible.
Sylvia Forbes, chairperson of the Social Outreach Ministry, shared that the Daycare Center will have a soft launch, with the official opening scheduled for late summer. She emphasized the Center’s mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment for seniors, promoting continuous personal and social growth in a home-away-from-home setting. This reopening is not just about resuming a service; it is about restoring a lifeline for many of our elderly citizens who seek companionship, care, and a sense of community.
