Meet Seminarian Tiffany Hall-Sweeting

Tiffany Hall-Sweeting has been a consistent presence in the Diocese of The Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands for over 20 years, particularly in her role as Diocesan Youth Director. Her years of service have been marked by creativity, energy, and a strong belief in the power of youth ministry to shape lives and strengthen the Church. Now, as Tiffany prepares for ordination, her ministry is taking on a new shape—one built on the foundation of her experience and her readiness to follow where God leads.

For Tiffany, ministry began in her teenage years at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in New Providence. As a young member of the Christian Youth Movement (CYM), she was inspired by the programs and leaders who helped her grow in faith. This influence stayed with her, leading her to devote her time and talents to ensuring that others could experience the same support and guidance she had.

“I wanted to make a difference for young people, just as others had done for me,” Tiffany shared. “I was always looking for ways to improve the programs—make them relevant, impactful, and accessible to those who weren’t already part of the Church.”

Over the years, Tiffany brought a fresh approach to youth ministry, taking on roles as Assistant Youth Director (2005–2013) and Youth Director (2013–2023). She revitalized programs like the Diocesan Youth Conclave and Archdeaconry Youth Jamborees, and she prioritized leadership development as a key focus of her work.

The work was not without its challenges, but Tiffany maintained her focus by relying on her faith. “I trusted the process and Christ, who leads it,” she says. Her belief in God’s provision was borne out time and again. “There was never a time when a program or event had to be cancelled because we didn’t have enough funding or resources,” she recalls. “God always made a way.”

Tiffany’s approach to ministry also reflected her belief in the importance of lay involvement in the Church. “If there’s a role that laypeople can do, they should be given the opportunity to do it,” she says. This conviction helped her build strong teams and mentor young leaders, many of whom now serve as clergy or professionals within the diocese.

Even as she was immersed in youth ministry, Tiffany felt another call growing stronger—the call to the priesthood. It wasn’t a decision she rushed into; instead, she waited for the right moment, trusting in God’s timing. That moment came in 2023, when she left her role as Youth Director to attend Codrington College in Barbados, preparing for ordination.

Looking back on her years in youth ministry, Tiffany feels proud of the growth and impact of the programs she led. But she’s also excited about what lies ahead. “It’s not just about what I’ve done—it’s about what God continues to do through the Church and its people,” she reflects.

As Tiffany steps into this new phase of her ministry, her former role is in good hands. The Rev’d Dr. Travis Fernander, who took over as Youth Director in 2023, has already begun building on the foundation Tiffany helped establish. With his focus on technology, education, and outreach, Fr. Fernander is continuing the work of connecting with young people in meaningful ways.

Tiffany Hall-Sweeting’s years in youth ministry have been marked by her ability to adapt, lead, and inspire. As she prepares for ordination, the Diocese gives thanks for her many contributions and looks forward to seeing how her ministry will evolve in the years to come.
