Long Island Parish Reunites at Historic St. Mary’s for Final Lenten Stations of the Cross
The story of Christ’s Passion and Resurrection will come alive in a bold and immersive new dramatization titled He Is Risen, presented by the youth and young adults of Holy Trinity Anglican Church this Easter season.
Led by the church’s Generation Next and Anglican Young Adults (AYA) ministries, the experience is unlike a traditional stage play. Instead, audience members are taken on a physical journey through the final moments of Jesus’ earthly life — beginning with the Last Supper and ending in the glory of the Resurrection.
Groups of attendees will move from scene to scene across the church grounds, encountering dramatic reenactments of key events from Holy Week. Each act — from the Garden of Gethsemane to the trial before Pontius Pilate, the crucifixion at Golgotha (Calvary), and even depictions of death, hell, and heaven — has been carefully crafted to make an impact.
“It’s not something you just sit and watch,” said Holy Trinity’s Rector, Rev’d. Fr. Deangelo Bowe. “This is a walk-through experience. You feel like you are a part of the story. And our young people have done a phenomenal job telling it in a way that speaks to the heart.”
The dramatization, which runs approximately 30-45 minutes, will operate continuously throughout the evening beginning at 5PM. As visitors arrive, they are registered and placed into small groups before being guided through the series of acts. New groups begin the journey every few minutes, ensuring everyone has a chance to experience the full production.
Fr. Bowe emphasized the depth of meaning behind each scene. “There’s a sense of intimacy and awe that comes with walking alongside Jesus — from the agony in the garden to the moment the stone is rolled away. It’s powerful, and it’s moving.”
The initiative is spearheaded by youth leader Jamal Bryce and supported by a large team of young parishioners dedicated to using their talents for ministry. It is an example of how the next generation is taking creative ownership of the faith and finding new ways to share the Gospel message.
Gates open at 5:00 p.m. on its final day (April 12), but there’s no need to arrive right on time. Groups will be formed and guided throughout the evening, giving all attendees the opportunity to take part in the journey. 
Holy Trinity invites the public to come and experience He Is Risen — to witness the passion, feel the pain, and celebrate the triumph of the Resurrection through the eyes and hearts of its youth.
