Anglican Hospital & Prison Chaplaincy Brings Easter Hope to Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre

The Anglican Hospital & Prison Chaplaincy joined with the clients and staff of Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for a Spirit-filled worship service marking the Fifth Sunday of Easter.

The service was led by the Rev’d Fr. Jude O. Edomwonyi, Hospital Chaplain, who was supported by a dedicated ministry team: Bianca Skippings, Gene Curtis, Sy Huyler, Khayl Seymour, Vaughisha Bethel, Kathryn Campbell, Labronya Lozaïque, and Anya Sawyer. Together, the team helped create an atmosphere of praise, thanksgiving, and encounter with God for patients, clinicians, and support staff in attendance.

Grounded in the Easter message of hope, the liturgy featured Scripture readings, songs of praise, testimonies, and intercessory prayer. Fr. Edomwonyi preached from John 14:1–14 under the theme “Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled,” emphasizing Christ’s assurance of His presence in the midst of anxiety, illness, and uncertainty. Many present testified that they were encouraged and strengthened in faith as they reflected on God’s promise of peace and companionship in every circumstance.

The Anglican Hospital & Prison Chaplaincy serves as an extension of the pastoral care of the Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas & The Turks and Caicos Islands, providing regular worship, sacramental ministry, and spiritual support within hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and correctional facilities. Sunday’s celebration at Sandilands underscored the Diocese’s ongoing commitment to healing, restoration, and wholeness—not only within parish churches, but in the wider community where people live, work, and receive care.

Reflecting on the day, the ministry team gave thanks to God for His abiding presence and for the privilege of sharing His love in a place dedicated to healing and recovery. Echoing the Gospel text, Fr. Edomwonyi left the congregation with a word of encouragement: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1).
